![]() ![]() ![]() Acosta, as you know, stood on the podium on his world championship debut and won the first race in the following event. The #93 was only champion in his third season in the world championship and at his 35th Grand Prix appearance. But like Joan Mir, Rossi needed more races to win: 11 against Acosta’s two. Looking at dominant riders in the class, none won more races in a season than Valentino Rossi in 1997, when in 15 races he won eight and finished 13 podiums. Also noteworthy was the fact that Mir took his third Moto3 victory after 21 races in the class while Acosta needed…four! But Mir needed eleven races in Moto3 to achieve his first victory, something that Acosta did after only two races. Joan Mir was the last champion in Moto3 to dominate the season, winning ten races on his way to the title, collecting 341 points, a figure that Acosta no longer has time to match.
